The Science Behind Beautiful, Manageable Hair

We educate our clients on the importance of using ONLY SALON PROFESSIONAL shampoos, conditioners, and styling products for their hair. At our salon, we retail high-quality products from Pureology and Brazilian Blowout. The key difference with professional products is that they are pH balanced, which is crucial for maintaining the health of your hair and. This balance helps reduce oiliness and irritation, resulting in stronger, less frizzy, softer, shinier, and more hydrated hair. Clients often notice that their hair becomes more manageable and easier to style after just one use of our professional products—leading to less stress, breakage, and healthier hair overall. Additionally, salon products contain concentrated, high-quality ingredients that minimize buildup, allowing you to use less, save money, and achieve beautiful results!

Remember, your hair, skin, and nails naturally have a pH level of 4.5 - 5.5. Non-professional products, which are not regulated or pH balanced, can be excessively harsh and often contain cheap, waxy ingredients that lead to buildup on the hair cuticle. This buildup can cause various scalp and hair issues, such as oiliness, dryness, frizz, rapid color fading, and the need to frequently switch products. Be cautious of labels like 'gentle,' 'sulfate-free,' or 'color-safe,' as they do not guarantee quality and may still lead to undesirable results.

BREAK THE CYCLE OF HAIR DAMAGE WITH EXCELLENT HAIR CARE AND CUTS!

The primary reason to eliminate split ends and damage from bleaching, coloring, heat styling, and poor-quality products is to maintain healthy hair. Hair, made of hardened keratin, needs proper care and moisture to stay vibrant and strong. If split ends are not addressed quickly, they can peel up the hair cuticle, leading to shorter, broken, and frizzy strands.

Many new clients express concerns that "my hair doesn't grow," but hair typically grows about 1/2 inch per month; the issue is often breakage rather than lack of growth. Clients who delay regular haircuts may not realize that their hair isn't getting longer or healthier because they only trim a small amount of damage.

While many hesitate to cut off significantly damaged areas to preserve length, this choice perpetuates the breakage cycle, preventing their hair from becoming longer, fuller, and healthier. To combat this, it's essential to schedule regular haircuts to remove damage and to minimize harmful practices in your hair routine, such as overprocessing and excessive heat styling. We recommend treatments like Brazilian Blowout for strengthening, along with Olaplex and K18 for weekly home care to reduce breakage and hydrate your hair, making it stronger, shinier, and less frizzy.

HAIR FAQS

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I WASH MY HAIR?

THE FREQUENCY IS NOT THE SAME FOR EVERYONE, BUT- USING SALON PROFESSIONAL SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER THAT WORKS WITH YOUR HAIR TYPE IS A MUST. IN GENERAL, ITS RECOMMENDED TO WASH YOUR HAIR EVERY 2-4 DAYS. FOR SOME THAT ARE ACTIVE OR HAVE VERY FINE HAIR, THAT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE IN WHICH CASE EVERY OTHER DAY WOULD BE GREAT. DAILY SHAMPOOING CAN BE HARD ON THE HAIR AND SCALP BECAUSE IT CONSTANTLY REMOVES ALL THE NATURAL OILS THAT NATURALLY MOISTURIZE THE HAIR AND SCALP. ALSO IF YOUR HAIR IS COLORED, WASHING LESS WITH HELP PREVENT FADING.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CUT MY HAIR?

HAIR GROWS APPROX 1/2 INCH PER MONTH. IF YOU'RE HAIR IS DAMAGED AND/OR IF YOU USE HOT TOOLS AND BLOWDRY REGULARLY THEN I WOULD RECOMMEND TO TRIM HAIR EVERY 6-8 WEEKS. CLIENTS WHO DON'T COLOR OR USE HOT TOOLS OR AREN'T PRONE TO SPLIT ENDS MAY GO 8-12 WEEKS.

MY HAIR ISN'T GETTING LONGER, BUT I ALWAYS HAVE ROOTS- WHATS GOING ON?

YOUR HAIR IS LIKELY BREAKING AND HAS SPLIT ENDS. EVEN IF YOU GO IN FOR REGULAR CUTS, IF YOU HAVE NOT REMOVED ALL THE SPLIT ENDS THE HAIR WILL CONTINUALLY PEEL UP THE HAIR SHAFT AND BREAK. ITS IMPORTANT TO REMOVE AS MANY SPLIT ENDS AND BREAKAGE AS POSSIBLE SO THE HAIR CUTICLE REMAINS STRONG AND HEALTHY. ASK YOUR STYLIST ABOUT TREATMENT AND PRODUCTS THAT WILL STOP BREAKAGE AND HELP YOU MEET YOUR HAIR GOALS.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COLOR MY HAIR?

THIS VARIES FROM PERON TO PERSON, BUT IN GENERAL IT IS SAFE TO COLOR YOUR HAIR FREQUENTLY AS LONG AS YOUR NOT OVER-PROCESSING AND OVERLAPPING NEW COLOR ONTO PREVIOUSLY COLORED HAIR TIME AND TIME AGAIN. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO EXTEND YOUR COLOR LONGER, TELL YOUR STYLIST SO THEY CAN MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS.

WHY CAN'T I TONE OUT THE BRASSY ORANGE OUT OF MY HAIR? IT KEEPS COMING BACK!

WHEN HAIR IS LIGHTENED IT REVEALS WHATS CALLED "UNDERLYING PIGMENT". THIS PIGMENT CAN NOT BE MADE LIGHTER WITH COLOR OR TONER. TONERS ACT LIKE A "VEIL" OF COLOR; THEY ARE NOT A BLANKET. IF YOU HAVE ORANGE, BRASSY HIGHLIGHTS THEN THE COLOR WILL NEED TO BE RE-PROCESSED USING BLEACH TO LIGHTEN THE COLOR FURTHER, LIFTING IT OUT OF ORANGE AND TO A PALE, LIGHT YELLOW. ONCE ITS REACHED A LEVEL OF LIGHTNESS THAT NO LONGER APPEARS ORANGE, IT CAN BE TONED AND RESULTS WILL LAST UP TO 6 WEEKS.

WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HIGHLIGHTS AND LOWLIGHTS?

LOWLIGHTS ARE COMMONLY REQUESTED TO ADD DEPTH AND ARE DARKER THAN YOUR EXISTING COLOR. HIGHLIGHTS ADD LIGHTNESS AND BRIGHTNESS TO YOUR COLOR, COMMONLY PLACED AROUND YOUR FACE FOR FACE FRAMING. BOTH CAN BE ADDED TO CREATE DIMENSIONAL COLOR.

HOW CAN I PROTECT MY HAIR AGAINST CHLORINE?

WET HAIR PRIOR TO SWIMMING AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER SWIMMING. THIS WILL HELP REDUCE HOW MUCH CHLORINE GETS ABSORBED INTO THE HAIR. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO A FRESH WATER SHOWER, YOU CAN BRING A WATER BOTTLE AND WET HAIR DOWN BEFORE AND AFTER TO DILUTE THE CHLORINE. MAKE SURE TO HAVE A DEEP CONDITIONER OR HAIR MASK TO MOISTURIZE THE CUTICLE SO IT DOESN'T GET DRY.

HOW CAN I KEEP MY CURLS BUT NOT HAVE FRIZZ?

IN HIGH HUMIDITY, FRIZZ IS INEVITABLE. YOUR BEST BET WOULD BE TO DO A KERATIN TREATMENT TO HELP FORTIFY THE HAIR CUTICLE SO THAT IT IS UNABLE TO FRIZZ AND PUFF OFF. PRODUCTS CAN HELP, BUT IF YOU WANT WASH AND GO, A KERATIN IS THE BEST AND LONGEST LASTING WAY TO DEFEAT FRIZZ FOR WEEKS AT A TIME.

HOW TO PREVENT MY COLOR FROM FADING IN THE SUN?

ALL HAIR COLOR FADES AND THE SUN MAKES IT FADE FASTER. WEARING A HAT IS OFTEN NOT AN OPTION AND THUS WASHING LESS, WASHING IN COOLER WATER, AND USING A HAIR SUNSCREEN SPF ARE HELPFUL. IF COLOR IS FADING MORE THAN WHAT YOU LIKE, YOU CAN REQUEST YOUR STYLIST GO 1/2 TO 1 SHADE DARKER. WHEN YOU SHAMPOO, SHAMPOO ONLY THE ROOTS/SCALP WHERE THE OIL IS, DO NOT APPLY IT TO ENTIRE HEAD AS OVER TIME THIS CAN WASH AWAY THE COLOR MOLECULES.
